Legislative Advocate

Status: Volunteer

Duration: 3-months
Hours: 4-hours per week
Start Date: 2/15/202


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Meet with members of Congress and/or Congressional staffers in your State and District.

  • Represent One APIA Nevada at various political and community events.

  • Mobilize individuals to contact their members of Congress in support of key progressive APIA legislation.

  • As needed, speak to groups, classes and organizations.

  • Write letters of support for APIA issues to political leaders, media and other groups.

Qualifications

  • Excellent overall communication skills: oral, written, presentation.

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize assignments.

  • Bilingualism is a plus but not required.

Students eager to learn hands-on legislative experience are encouraged to apply. 

 Communications Writer/Editor

Status: Volunteer

Duration: 3-months
Hours: 4-hours per week
Start Date: 2/15/21

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Research topics in-depth and develop short articles.

  • Update supervisors with important developments.

  • Proofread editors articles before publishing.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong research, editing, and writing skills.

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize assignments.

Communication Editors may emphasize on a topic that they passionate about. Emphasis may include but are not limited to Health, Education, Immigration, and Environmental Justice.

  

Digital Content Creator

Status: Volunteer

Duration: 3-months
Hours: 4-hours per week
Start Date: 2/15/202

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Understand and stay up-to-date with the capabilities and restrictions of each social network currently utilized (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.).

  • Create innovative and timely content, and post on multiple social media channels.

  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of / willingness to learn Canva and Photoshop.

  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize assignments.

Digital Content Creators may emphasize on a topic that they passionate about. Emphasis may include but are not limited to Health, Education, Immigration, and Environmental Justice.
