About the Role
One APIA Nevada is seeking a full-time Communications Manager in the Las Vegas area with strong writing, research, and interpersonal skills. The applicant should possess strong communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound political instincts.
REPORTS TO
Communications Director
RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
Creating and executing long and short-term plans that incorporate grassroots action, earned media, social media, digital organizing, and other creative strategies.
Working with local and national partner organizations to execute coordinated. targeted strategies.
Driving the narrative in key electoral activities and conducting rapid response, developing talking points and written materials around breaking news.
Identify and implement new digital media tools to enhance outreach and engagement initiatives
Developing a strategy for key organizing and advocacy activities for post-2023 legislative session and also 2024 electoral cycle.
Ensure consistency & adherence to OAN’s brand and tone of voice in all communications.
Supervision of Fellows, Interns, and Volunteers as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree required
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3-5 years of communications and/or digital experience. (Political experience preferred).
Social Media experience across platforms with a key understanding of the development of “social” brand.
Able to draft, fact-check, proofread and edit written materials quickly, and a demonstrated ability to understand and communicate complex issues in a clear, concise and engaging manner.
Familiar with state-wide media outlets, proven knowledge of media trends, and a strong sense of how to generate favorable traction in media.
Able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines successfully in a fast-paced work environment with extended working hours, including evenings and weekends.
Able to work independently and in team settings.
Familiar with Nevada politics and experience in the Battle Born state is a plus but not required.
Committed to progressive causes and issues
Managerial and/or Supervisory Experience preferred.
Proficiency (reading, writing, verbal) in one of the following languages preferred: Tagalog, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, or Thai.
