About the Role
One APIA Nevada is currently seeking a Communications Manager based in Las Vegas, NV. This position will be full time working between 8:00AM - 5:00PM Monday through Friday with some evenings & weekends required depending on business needs. Travel may also be required 10-15% of the time.
The right candidate will possess strong writing, research and interpersonal skills, along with sound political instincts.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
Create and execute long and short term media relations strategies that incorporate grassroots action and relationship-building with local & national news outlets.
Write press releases to pitch and distribute to the media on a regular basis.
Work with national and local partner organizations within the grassroots movement to execute strategies.
Use earned media to drive narrative in key electoral activities and conduct rapid response around breaking news.
Coordinate and monitor social media content across multiple platforms with key understanding of organization’s goals & missions
Identify and develop new digital media tools to enhance outreach and engagement initiatives.
Help develop strategies for key annual legislative activities.
Supervise staff, interns and volunteers as needed.

$45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs or related field.
Ability to create, draft, proofread and edit written materials quickly, including ability to understand and communicate complex issues in a clear and engaging manner
Familiarity with state-wide media outlets, proven knowledge of media trends and strong sense of how to generate favorable traction in the media.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines successfully in a fast-paced work environment with extended working hours, including evenings and weekends. - Ability to work independently and in team settings.
Familiarity with Nevada politics is a plus, but not required
Commitment to progressive causes and issues
Management and/or supervisory experience preferred.
Proficiency (reading, writing, verbal) in one of the following languages preferred: Tagalog, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese Thai
