About the Role

One APIA Nevada is seeking a part/full-time Communications Assistant in the Las Vegas area with strong writing, research, and interpersonal skills. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Assistant will be responsible for digital, newsletter, and social media marketing, and provide copywriting and content creation support as needed to supporting the communications efforts of One APIA Nevada.


REPORTS TO 

Communications Manager


RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to): 

  • Maintaining OAN archive folder to capture content from year-round organizational events and identify evergreen content that can be used for OAN communications.

  • Working closely with Organizing & Community Engagement Teams to identify and capitalize on potential content opportunities.

  • Assist in rapid response communications, conducting research, developing talking points and written materials around breaking news.

  • Identify and implement new digital media tools to enhance outreach and engagement initiatives. 

  • Content and social media creation (graphic, photo, video) for the 2024 electoral cycle 

  • Supervision of Fellows, Interns, and Volunteers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • At least 1-3 years of communications and/or digital experience. (Political experience preferred).

  • Up-to-date on the policies, issues, trends, and news affecting AANHPIs & Nevadans.

  • Able to adapt trends and organizational objectives into compelling copy & content.

  • Meticulous organizational and time-management skills, to oversee the content creation process from ideation to creation to distribution.

  • Capable of considering social media platform and timing strategy, inclusivity, and accessibility from the get-go.

  • Able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines successfully in a fast-paced work environment with extended working hours, including evenings and weekends. 

  • Able to work well independently and with others and rapidly pivot and problem-solve and implement based on feedback.

  • Familiar with Nevada politics and experience in the Battle Born state is a plus but not required.

  • Committed to progressive causes and issues

  • Proficiency (reading, writing, verbal) in one of the following languages preferred:  Tagalog, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, or Thai.

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree required.
