OUR LEGISLATIVE WORK
In 2020, the Governor called a special session to address the imminent issues posed by the pandemic. We advocated for AANHPI working families who were disproportionately hit hard. We also focused on ensuring health measures were implemented and community members would not need to put themselves at risk in order to do their civic duty or go to work.
Legislative Advocacy:
✓ AB4—Allows for Nevada to mail all eligible voters a ballot during the height of the 2020 pandemic.
✓ HR748 & S3548—Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act
Federal Advocacy:
In 2020, during the initial COVID19 shutdown, One APIA Nevada phone-banked to support the passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES).
Our sister organization, the Asian Community Development Council was able to begin their low-income food bank with culturally relevant food and COVID19 vaccine clinic.
