About the Role
Community Trust Building and Relationship Development: Work diligently to build and sustain trust with Target Community (Filipino, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and South Asian) ethnic and cultural groups across Nevada, as well as national organizations and leaders. Engage with community members (1:1s) to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations, creating a foundation of mutual respect and collaboration. Serve as a bridge between One APIA Nevada and the Target Community, ensuring that the organization’s work is informed by and responsive to community input.
Policy Education & Advocacy: Translate complex policy issues into accessible, community-oriented narratives that resonate with the Target Community. Work to educate community members on how these issues impact their lives, and empower them to engage in advocacy efforts that drive change.
Cultural Event Planning: Plan and facilitate cultural events and gatherings that celebrate Target Community's heritage, traditions, and contributions. Ensure that these events are both educational and empowering, providing a platform for community members to connect, share, and take action.
Youth Engagement: Collaborate with the Youth Organizer and Political Director to host educational events and stakeholder meetings with Target Community. Focus on issues that affect young people, encouraging them to participate in civic activities and leadership development opportunities.
Voter Registration & Engagement: Lead efforts to enhance voter registration and engagement within the Target Community. Work with the organizing team to develop culturally sensitive strategies that increase voter turnout and participation in elections.
Community Advocacy & Support: Act as an advocate for the Target Community within the broader work of One APIA Nevada. Ensure that community voices are heard and represented in organizational decision-making processes and that community needs are addressed in programmatic goals.
Strategic Program Implementation: Assist in developing and implementing programs that align with One APIA Nevada’s mission to protect democracy, promote voter education, and support leadership development within the NHPI community.
Data Collection & Analysis: Work with the Data Manager to collect and analyze data on community engagement, voter registration, and program effectiveness. Use insights from this data to refine strategies and improve outreach efforts.
Collaboration with Team Members: Coordinate closely with other members of the organizing team, including the Field & QC Manager and Communications Specialist, to ensure a cohesive approach to community organizing and outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires significant time spent outside in inclement weather.
Working knowledge of Google Mail and timekeeping system.
Must have a consistent, reliable mode of transportation
Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with all members of the community.
Ability to work independently and in team settings
Ability to work with flexible hours/schedules.
Ability to stand for 3-4 hours and occasionally carry boxes >30 pounds
Familiarity with Nevada politics or Asian and Pacific Islander community's experience in the Battle Born state is a plus, but not required
